Day 188: You

You

I searched a thousand love songs

I thumbed through printed prose

I edged my mind round poems thick

All words that rhymed with rose

~

In storybook or tale

The answer did not rest

And so I tried with might

To search through nature vast

~

From animal to tree

From sky to crumbled rock

I walked from path to path

I tracked the soaring hawk

~

In vain I hung head low

In sorrow and in shame

I had not found the answer

And had to start again

~

This time I looked at art

Communicated form

To marble, paint, and print

To oddities adorned

~

To everything that came

To everything I saw

I could not find the answer

Not hanging on a wall

~

My legs they soon grew tired

My heart it gave a thump

My mind was spinning top

My throat it felt a lump

~

How could I describe you

And show you how I cared

Declare my adoration

When you weren’t anywhere

~

And so I found a tree

So very tall, and sat

And took a deep breath in

And thought of this and that

~

I reasoned and I volleyed

I cursed and threw a fit

I hollered and I worried

And even gasped a bit

~

Until the answer flew

Smack straight into my heart

And suddenly I knew

How to piece together parts

~

I found you weren’t outside me

Not anywhere I’d looked

Not locked within the words

Of any single book

~

I saw you clearly now

In everything you are

The golden thread of hope

My brilliant shining star

~

A source that danced within

My ever waking dream

Inspirer of wishes

Interwoven in my seams

    1. 🙂 Take a huge heart of angst, keep it up late at night alone, shake it up and down…and out spills soul….. You are kind….nothing to envy here….but glad you appreciated. Have to pop over and see what gorgeous animal photos you posted. 🙂 Sam

  1. I loved it when you first shared it with me but I must say I love it even more with the slight changes you’ve made. Still the last three verses have my heart smiling. Love that you are seeing the you in you and God’s love coming to life in you and through you, touching others. Learning to love oneself, being in love with who we are created to be, but also seeing the light in others and recognising that love as a pure love, as a gift.
But, I see that this one can also be read as a love poem to another, very clever you are. You know where my thoughts are on this and I love how you play with words.
Also the green brings this to life for me. Lovely photos, so peace filled.
A thought inspired by your trail…Our search through nature is as endless as our own self discovery. Perfect photos my friend. 🙂

Yep, yep, yep…..totally wonderful, you’re bloody amazing. 🙂
So very inspired and from your loving heart.
Love you my lovely friend. xxx 🙂 ❤
(Now listening to your choice of songs.)

    1. Such a short comment from you today? hehehe laughing aloud
Yes….you are so right about the combo…..the light in others as gift and/or a love poem. I love when the words come out as both….just as life has both aspects. 🙂 And you know my heart too……so have a little advantage in interpretation as well. 🙂
I got another Bloody Amazing…..oh…I like those as much as my Samtastics!
Love to you banana bread BASNA 🙂 Sam

  2. Oh my word – pure genius – I love it. it is deeply satisfying when a poem pulls together and hangs this well. ))applauding(( it is the best poem I’ve read in ages!!
    Alex 😀

    1. Oh, goodie….It was one I had to chisel and weed…and rework until I was satisified…much like me, I guess 🙂 That makes my heart shine that it touched you. Yay!!!! And I must say I really think you have such a face of light. 🙂 Thank you very much, Alex. 🙂 Hugs.

      1. oh you are welcome! Yes – I find some poems grow easily and some need to be tended, weeded and fed until they are coaxed out into their full glory 🙂
        Alex

  3. Sam Sam Sam… this is splendid and magnificent — a delight and a treat — oh gosh I need more descriptives — it’s soooooo goooood! How is that?! PUBLISH … I’m just tossing that word out to the universe – not you of course 🙂 so true – this spirit – this source – this god in nowhere outside or our deepest heart ~ our most genuine soul…. it’s always inside ‘interwoven in my seams” — Bravo my friend – you are a word magician – Scrap Book …. must order one this week for my favorites, this post included – now going to play some of your tunes — Sending kisses and hugs 🙂

    1. I didn’t see one typo….only your kindness. Okay…now I see…I’ll fix Brava…hehehe… Your words always bring me such joy and satisfaction….I wrote a very goofy comment to you and deleted. hehehe. But thank you for being you. You shine so bright and I adore your spirit…That’s fine to shout out to the universe….let’s see what tomorrow brings. 🙂 Hugs and love to you.

  4. hee heee – I’m laughing hysterically –

Brava is my word for Female Bravo :):) xxoo
but i see these typos —

“… this god nowhere outside our deepest heart ~ our most genuine soul…. it’s always inside ‘interwoven in my seams”

    *** edits: ~ in should be …. and shouldn’t be there 🙂

but not to worry sweet sea sister – edit and scratch this if you’d like ~ LOL!!

I’m so happy you let me do my shout out to the universe for you… and also my words lift you Sam — Joy is what it’s all about — love and hugs always ~ R

      1. LOL!! Ok – and my dyslexic aspie sea sister – who happens to be a word magician poet too… I just looked up Brava — what do you know it’s legit!!

        bra·va (brävä, brä-vä)
        interj.
Used to express approval of a woman, especially for a performance.
        n.
A shout or cry of “brava.”
        xxoo

  5. Your truth speaks for those still listening for their voices, between the frayed and hanging stitches of their seams.

My visual is of a planet sized quilt frame, on which we gently rest the worn, tattered and torn pieces of our lives… to be repurposed into the warmest, Light reflecting, beautiful quilts!

    Much love and Light..xxx

  6. In storybook or tale

    The answer did not rest

And so I tried with might

    To search through nature vast

    awwww…YOU are amazing!!!! 🙂 I love this poem…soooo lovely…makes me think of someone I truly love…someone I adore…thanks for sharing, Sam…love your work!!!! {{{{hugs}}}}
